James Murphy is a highly experienced forensic archaeologist, with an extensive professional background in mid and post-conflict environments in the Middle East and Balkans James has applied his wealth of experiences to the development of cutting-edge approaches to mass grave investigations through the utilization of remote sensing, GIS, and the creation of bespoke data analysis platforms for the analysis of big data and open-source intelligence. One of James’ key skill sets is building capacity of local partners towards self-reliance and adherence to international standards. He has led the training and mentoring of hundreds of local partner staff in the field. He holds a BA in Archaeology, MA in Landscape Archaeology, MSc in Forensic Archaeology and International Investigations and a post graduate diploma in Systems Analysis. James led MIA Recovery Operations in the Pacific theater from 2018 to 2020 and accepted an invitation to join the TERRA Search Senior Advisory Board in June 2021 to share and build on his expertise in archaeological recovery methodologies.
